For Authors

Submit Manuscript

Article Types

The Review seeks original works of legal scholarship written by professors, attorneys, judges, and others in the legal field.

Submission Requirements

Manuscript Format
Submissions to the New England Law Review may be of any length. Most commonly, articles range between 10 and 30 pages. However, there is neither a minimum nor a maximum article length required. The Law Review adheres to a hybrid Bluebook/ALWD Guide to Legal Citation in-house style guide. Authors are asked to include the necessary information in each citation to identify the referenced source. However, authors are encouraged to use whichever style of citation they prefer, as all footnotes and citations will be revised by our editors to adhere to the Law Review’s style guide during the editorial process.

Additional Files
Authors may also submit, along with their manuscript, a copy of their CV/résumé.

Editorial and Peer Review Process

All articles undergo a thorough editing process conducted by our staff of associates, who make initial edits, and our editors, who review their work. The process involves several rounds of review, including: source substantiation, footnote technical editing, text and grammatical editing, summary review, macro editing, and one final review by our Executive Board.

Publication Details

After a manuscript has gone through peer review and been accepted for publication are there: charges the author should know about, a timeframe the author can expect for publication turnaround, copy-editing and revision work needed from the author, additional files required by the journal?

Authors whose works are selected for publication will be provided with out publishing agreement. We ask that authors assign the copyright, thus granting the Review all rights in the article, so that you as author, and the Review as publisher, shall be protected from the consequences of unauthorized use. Authors will have the right, however, after publication in the Review, to reprint their article without charge in any book or publication of which you are the author or editor.
